The Town
Shaftesbury is an ancient Saxon market town, set 350m up on a hill above the glorious English countryside.
With fantastic walks, characteristic English pubs, monuments, cities, stately homes and, last but not least, the Jurassic coast all nearby, Pump Cottage is the perfect location to come and stay for an English country vacation.
Shaftesbury is 2 hours from London by car. There is a direct train to London from Gillingham (4 miles) which is well-served for taxis.
Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, the Cotswolds, Dartmoor and the Dorset coast are all between one and two hours away from Pump Cottage vacation rental.
Gold Hill
While staying at Pump Cottage you would find yourself nested at the bottom of one of the most iconic English countryside pictures: GOLD HILL.
From St. James', a 5 minute walk takes you directly up the cobbled, steep street of Gold Hill.
Turn around at the top and breath in that view.
Park Walk
Walking from Pump Cottage along the St. James Street, you can go through the park on your left, and once at the top, you will find yourself on the beautiful PARK WALK.
With pretty gardens and an elegant tree-lined walk has benches perfectly placed to sit and enjoy the quintessential view of the Blackmore Vale.
